About Add Page Numbers
Add Page Numbers stamps a number on every page of your PDF. Choose one of six positions (top or bottom; left, center or right), a format such as “Page 3 of 12”, the starting number, font size, margin and colour. You can also limit numbering to a page range, for example 2- to leave the cover page unnumbered.
Whether you think of it as PDF page numbers, page numbering or a way to number PDF pages, the result is the same: a clean, consistent number on every page. Insert page numbers into contracts, theses and scanned batches in seconds.
Numbers are placed correctly even on pages that are rotated. Everything runs in your browser and the original file is not changed.
Tips
- Merge your documents first, then number the finished file.
- Use the “Page X of Y” format for contracts so a missing page is obvious.

Common uses
Page numbers make long documents navigable and make discussion easier (“see page 14”). They are expected in theses, legal bundles, board packs, manuals and any document that will be printed and could be shuffled. Adding them after merging several files gives you one continuous sequence instead of several restarts.
